Snak Club – Tajin Chili & Lime Peanuts

Tajin seasoning, originally developed in 1985 in Guadalajara, Mexico was created as a dry seasoning version of the creator’s grandmother’s hot sauce recipe. By 1993 the seasoning was available in the USA and has grown to be one of the most popular Mexican seasonings on grocery store shelves, appropriate for anything from sandwiches to tacos to ceviche to fruit.

Based on blend of dried Mexican chiles including chile de arbol, pasilla, and guajillo Tajin also includes dehydrated lime, citric acid, and salt for a mild heat with plenty of sour citrus kick and a saltiness that provides a great contrast with sweeter foods. Combining the zesty seasoning with simple roasted peanuts creates a flavorful snack.

One of my big pet peeves with flavored peanuts is when they lack intensity in the seasoning they’re supposed to have. These Tajin nuts come through in droves with the seasoning. These are perhaps the first peanuts I’ve tried that I could say may be even overseasoned, but it’s not something I would complain about. The salty, fruity, sour flavor of Tajin seasoning is a perfect blend of the fatty nuts, and though no artificial colors are used they do tend to turn your fingers red while eating them just from the natural oils in the chiles. The heat level is very low with the sour flavors being more prominent than the heat.

I’m happy to recommend Snak Club Tajin Peanuts. They’re tasty, have a clean ingredients list, and are very affordable.

Ingredients: Roasted Peanuts (Peanuts, Canola Oil, and/or Peanut Oil), Tajin Clasico Seasoning (Chili Peppers, Sea Salt, Citric Acid, Dehydrated Lime Juice, Silicon Dioxide [to prevent caking]).

Heat Level: 1/10. These are more sour than hot but there is a bit of chili flavor and heat
