Bravado Spice Co is a craft hot sauce company out of Texas, founded in 2012 that’s grown to have a national presence with their products available in many specialty stores and some grocery store chains. One interesting tidbit is that apparently one of the company founders was on Masterchef Season 4. They have a wide…
Crispy Kytti’s Cauldron is a new hot sauce brand from a couple in Iowa. With sauces based on fantasy themes the company has a wide variety of creative flavors. The use of fermentation in their sauces aids in creating more complex flavors, and the small batch nature allows them to use high quality ingredients and…
I usually tend to avoid overtly smoky sauces as I find so many of them go very overboard on the smoke content. When I saw Joe’s Dos Veces Ahumado hot sauce though, and read about how the owner and sauce maker felt similarly about how so many smoked sauces taste overbearing and artificial and wanted…
After enjoying my first bottle of Gindo’s sauce so much I was eager to try another. This is another one of their collaboration sauces with a local business – in this case Frankie’s Deli and Italian Meat Market. Having grown up in the cultural orbit of Philadelphia I love a good Italian deli. The Chicagoland…
Based out of Porstmouth, NH The Spicy Shark hasn’t been around as long as some other hot sauce companies, just entering the scene a few years ago in 2018, but they’ve made a name amongst enthusiasts with creative flavor profiles and sponsoring a number of hot sauce and spicy food events in the New England…
I’ve tried a lot of different hot sauces. Most of them I have enjoyed, and some have stood out as being great. An even smaller number have reached that level of near perfection where I crave them and keep bottles of them on hand, unable to resist the urge to pop one open on occasion…
Growing up in the Mid-Atlantic region Herr’s chips were ubiquitous. I remember the television commercials with company founder Jim Herr and his tagline “Make Herr’s Yours”. After moving to Florida it wasn’t as easy to find Herr’s snacks until the greatest convenience store chain in America, Wawa, finally made its way down here to our…
Every time I see the name of this brand I’m reminded of the novel Dracula, and the character Renfield. In fact I usually need to look it up to remember that the name of that character is Renfield and not Renfro. That aside, this company is not named after a Dracula character, but rather the…
Tabasco is one of the most well known hot sauce brands in the world. Over time they’ve expanded their line-up from their original pepper sauce to include sauces made from habaneros, jalapenos, and even scorpion peppers plus a number of specialty products such as a Sriracha, a buffalo sauce, and most recently a Mexican style…
Blind Hot Sauce is a small craft operation out of Columbia Falls, MT, which appears to be about as remote and beautiful a location as I’ve seen any sauce hail from. Having begun development of their sauces in 2011 and retail sales in 2015, the company is nearing their ten year anniversary, which is impressive…
