Heat Hot Sauce Shop – Primo Garlic Crunch

HeatHotSauce.com recently has a beta test of several spice blends they were developing, and I was lucky enough to be able to take part. Two of the blends they sent out were garlic crunches, one based on ghost and Aleppo peppers, and the other on 7 Pot Primo peppers. While I purchased both when they were finally released, I decided to open this one up first as I was in the mood for a bit more of a spicy punch.
This is a dry blend of Thai style fried garlic coated in 7 Pot Primo pepper powder. It’s a simple combination but one that’s absolutely delicious. The savory richness of the fried garlic is a perfect compliment to the slightly floral, fruity, and smoky 7 Pot Primo peppers. The Primos also give this a nice quick punch of heat. There’s a tiny bit of linger, but this isn’t something you’ll have to worry about your mouth burning for 20 minutes after you eat.
Since it’s a dry blend I’ve had a lot of fun pairing it with various things. It’s amazing on pizza, on Mexican food (I shook some on both some beans and rice and some fajitas and those little garlic heat nuggets really livened it up), on steaks or other grilled meats, on sliced tomatoes, and even on sliced apples for a sweet and savory treat. I used over half of the jar in just two days after opening it, it’s an addictive condiment.
If you love garlic and spicy this is an absolute must-get in my opinion. It’s versatile, and so tasty you might be tempted to just eat it straight from the jar.
Ingredients: Crunch garlic (organic garlic, organic canola oil), Primo pepper powder, sea salt
Heat Level: 4/10. There’s some heat in this, especially if you eat it straight, but sprinkled over food it gives a pleasant warmth that’s a bit over medium-heat and a quick punch with each little nugget.
